Our Working Walls

You may have noticed our Working walls.. These are classroom displays that are updated throughout a topic to help the children with their learning. They contain all the key information needed to secure understanding of a topic. Often the children will contribute to the working walls and they are encouraged to use them when stuck.
Here are a few examples:

Class Countries

During assembly last week, each class was presented with the flag of their chosen class country. Here are our class representatives proudly introducing their country to the rest of the school.

This year, each key stage has chosen a country from a selected continent:
Key Stage One classes have all chosen a country within the British Isles.
Lower Key Stage Two have chosen countries from Australasia.
Upper Key Stage Two have chosen countries from Africa.

Paralympic Torch

We have had a lovely morning with Chris Rattenbury from Wheelpower.

Everyone got an opportunity to hold the torch and Y1/2 children were immediately inspired to make their own.

New House Captains

This morning we elected our new house captains. There were many candidates and they all gave a very confident speech to their house members. It was very clear that the children are passionate about leading their houses. We are hoping to organise a variety of  house events this year (in addition to Sports Day) so there will be lots of opportunities for house points.

Congratulations to the new House Captains:

  • Rosie and Connie for Buckland
  • Orla and Aine for Pudmore
  • Matthew and Sophie for Sandfield
  • George and Maddi for Iddmead

Tri- Golf and Archery Taster

Even though it's only the first week back we have already had two exciting visits from Ignite Sports UK!

On Thursday, the children had an opportunity to learn some golf skills. They were asked to design their own course (some courses included lakes with giant crocodiles!) and to use the skills taught to manoeuvre their way around it.

On Friday, the children had an opportunity to develop their co-ordination skills whilst trialling archery. It was fantastic to see the children grow in confidence throughout the session and begin to hit the targets more accurately!

Ignite Sports UK will be running archery club on Tuesdays and tri-golf club on Wednesdays throughout term 1.

The Great Fire of London

What a great start to the new academic year!
Thank you to Jamie for sharing his artistic skills with us all today and to Mrs Parr for organising the event.
